The Contract
John Duran
The message chain began on June 6th with the text “30.2695N 97.7421W the Contract is not yet in effect” the message came from a number that was titled the Continental. I went to my laptop and imputed the coordinates which put me at Saint Mary Catholic Cathedral in Austin, Texas. Living in Killeen I decided to make the trip there on June 8th but the following day I received another message stating “The Contract will open 06132005” and so I waited until that faithful day not sure what it meant. As a safety measure I would bring my M9 Beretta which I received upon signing my Marine Corps contract eight years ago and even went to the gun range since I retired from the military two years ago.
Upon my arrival to the Cathedral, I noticed that it was undergoing renovations and although it was a Monday it was a palagi holiday and no one was working the job site. As I walked into the building undergoing renovations the Austin skyscrapers blocked out the suns view and the more forward, I walked the dimmer the building got. I drew my weapon out just to be safe and held it by the barrel to conceal it in my hand better. As I approached the tabernacle room I saw three others standing in a circle all with different weapons of choice one a bat, a shotgun, and the other a knife. A voice was heard over the intercom stating, “the contract has begun now”.
I put my hand to my holster and drew my weapon blasting the man with the shotgun before he could chamber his round. The caliber of choice for me was a 9mm explosive tip which I had hand crafted in my basement. The round hit the man’s right limb and it was separated from his body immediately. He screamed in pain as flesh hanged from him and blood squirted out of his arm; I pointed my weapon to the other two who had engaged into melee combat with their weapons. I immediately opened fire on them dismembering one in half and completely annihilating the other man reduced to atoms. I then preceded to finish off the first man I had shot but my magazine was empty so I grabbed his shotgun and put him out of his misery. The voice on the intercom interjected stating that the contract was complete and a black duffel bag fell from the ceiling with five million dollars in cash. On the intercom the announcement of “await further instruction” was spoken.
