Nostalgia

The computer, a device almost everyone in the world knows how to use. It gives access to wonderful tools such as the internet, games, videos, etc. Two games have a special place in my heart, Club Penguin, and Minecraft, one of which requires an internet connection. Minecraft, my brother first showed me this game on his laptop, maybe around 2009 or 2010 as I remember it being in alpha, and him joining a multiplayer game, it was magical for me, you could build anything, and go on an adventure that could last forever. My first Minecraft house was made with the help of my brother, as I was probably too young to build anything that would be considered a house. I remember at the end him trying to build a lava waterfall and my house burning down. I was so sad, and when the iconic Minecraft music I told him while in tears, “Look, the game played sad music because my house is burning!” He told me it was just ambient music, but I did not believe him. After that we built an entire world together, a brick house, and a wood house with a fancy interior. My first and only Club Penguin account, was created some time around late 2012 to 2013. I remember going down to the kitchen, asking my dad if I could use his email to create my own Club Penguin account, I was so excited, I played for hours on end. Eventually got inspired by people online to create my own videos. I named my channel based on my penguin name, Pingui Mex. My videos consisted of guides, “tips and tricks”, and other dumb videos, most of which I deleted. Eventually I got inspired by both games and decided to combine the two. By making the Club Penguin island inside Minecraft, it was my best idea yet. It took time and effort, about two weeks. When I finally finished it, I looked for some place to put it. I wanted it to become viral. So, I found this website called Planet Minecraft, it was a website where you could share Minecraft skins, maps, mods, texture packs, etc. I uploaded to YouTube, “Minecraft CP map” it is my most viewed video to date, there were more videos, including hunger games, survival, (For some reason I uploaded different parts on different channels.) and more. Eventually I got tired of both Minecraft and Club Penguin more Club Penguin than Minecraft as I found another popular game called “Five Nights at Freddy’s” and also created content related to the game. Before I left both games, I got an email. There used to be these monthly Club Penguin magazines and I uploaded an image of my igloo for an igloo contest. I remember reading that email, going as fast as possible to block buster, and seeing a trophy in game. That was probably one of the happiest days in my childhood. Club Penguin became irrelevant and I got tired of Minecraft. There are too many memories from both games to fit on this paper, but I will always remember these games, no matter what.
