Bones

“Come on, it’ll be fun” Alexis said as she began to walk up the sidewalk towards the house.
Alyssa Vine was a senior in high school who attended one of the largest schools in Baltimore Maryland. She lived there all her life with her aunt. Both her parents had died in a car crash seven years ago. Although she wished to have that parent figure in her life, she had her aunt, still breathing at the age of sixty-three.
Tonight, was Halloween. Supposedly the scariest night of the year, at least what her friends claimed. She had invited two of her closest friends, Alexis, and Katelyn, to trick or treat with her. She planned to stay out till eleven thirty, which was the latest her aunt would negotiate to let her stay out.
Alyssa and Katelyn watched as Alexis ascended the stairs of the house. Now Alexis was the kind of person who took dares, and ninety nine percent of the time she irresponsibly put herself in troubling situations. “I’ll be in and out within ten minutes. Chill out guys, I’ll be right out.” She then turned her back on her friends and walked into the house.
Cobwebs surrounded the exterior of the house, which casted shadows around it. Now the word “house” is simply being referenced in a gentle approach. This house was like no other house which lined the opposite sides of the road. The front lawn grass grew so high that it reached Alyssa’s waist. The door was somewhat broken off its hinges, and the windows were covered with thousands of webs. One would think that a house that hadn’t been touched over two decades, even before Alyssa was born, should be left alone. No, Alexis however just had to walk herself into a situation that could endanger herself.
Fifteen minutes go by, and Alexis doesn’t ever exit the house. “Alexis, hurry up!” Alyssa yells for her friend. Another five minutes later, and Alyssa’s heart race stars exhilarating. She begins walking up the stairs of the house, “Wait, I’ll come with you,” Katelyn ran after her friend, up the stairs after Alyssa. They slowly opened the door, then they took a few steps indoors. The eerie silence gave Alexis the chills, in which she responded, by wrapping her arms around herself.
The interior of the house was big with a staircase that held old stairs. The curtains were all torn up and glass was shattered all over the ground. Pictures that were hung on the wall, collected the dust of over two decades. Rats and mice, as well as other small rodents, scattered among the dark shadows of corners and old furniture. Both girls started to walk further into the house, only to be disgusted and creeped out by what they saw. Shelves held moldy foods, and little insects that contaminated those foods.
“Eww, gross” Katelyn said as she held up a bone. Alyssa looked further into the kitchen and realized that bones were located in many different spots. Some that were positioned in pots and pans. A few in the oven and many that were scattered all along the kitchen floor. Alyssa followed Katelyn as she walked up the staircase. Unlike her friend, Alyssa cautiously climbed the stairs, fearful that the age of the stairs would collapse under her weight. The long dark hallway, which held three rooms on each side of the wall, casted shadows. The girls walk into the room that was closest to them on their right. There was no door attached to its hinges which Alyssa thought to be somewhat strange. The room also contained no windows within it which provided a dark and creepy cave like den. They realize that the sheets on the bed that lay in the left hand corner of the room, contained mouse shit all over it. Both girls decided to avoid the stench and to move into another room.
As they walked into the next room, Alyssa accidentally ran into the back of Katelyn when she abruptly stopped. Alyssa moved around her friend to see what her friend was intently staring at. Alyssa was in horror as she looked upon her friend Alexis who was dead and sprawled out on the ground. Her head had dried markings like someone had continuously beat her in the head. Lines were drawn on her body. To Alyssa it almost seemed to be the markings of where each of her bones were located. Instead of feeling scared, Alyssa was confused about the bones that were located all over the house, and wondered if it had to do with Alexis’s markings. Both girls stood frozen when they heard a shuffle a few feet ahead of them.
“You came to the wrong house girls”
This made Alyssa wish that her friend, who had picked up a bone earlier, had one in her hand at that very moment. The shadow creeped towards the girls. Alyssa who was in shock, held her breath. When the creature appeared from the shadows, Alyssa and Katelyn both gasped in horror. Standing in front of them was a hideous creature, no, thing. It had the body of a man, but the features of a decaying homeless man (which Alyssa didn’t know what a decaying homeless man was supposed to look like but she could clearly imagine it in her head). Its hair was long and tangled with knots more complicated than a rope. Its teeth were missing, except for a few, which were colored yellow. By far the creepiest thing about it was its outfit. It had bones stuck on a piece of fabric which it wore on its body like a robe. Hundreds of bones.
Alyssa watched as her friend screamed and started to run backwards. Alyssa witnessed the horrific seen as the man chased after her. With a bone in which he held in his right hand; he knocked her hard on the head. He began to continuously hit her in the head, until he was sure that she was dead. He then looked at Alyssa. Alyssa tried running into a room to protect herself, but the next thing that happened… Well by that time she was dead, laying on the ground of the second story house, with all three of her friends, markings that were located on each of the girls' bodies. Markings of bones.
