White, yellow, and black. Mixed, milled, wetted, and dried. Dark in color, grainy in texture. Reactive and ready to ignite.
Measured out and poured, compressed, and pressurized. Draw the ramrod, add the lead, take aim, and squeeze the trigger.
Bright and illuminating, explosive and powerful. Orange and yellow followed by a boom and finally, white. Like the smell of fireworks on a warm summer night.
The smoke: musky and arid. The blast: powerful and satisfying. The smoke, carried by wind: swirling and embracing. The smell: primitive but charming.
After the day is done, the cleanup begins. Add soap and water to the mix, the charm is lost. Rotten eggs, stench, death, decay. The endearing smell now turned grubby, smelly, and unpleasant.
