A Cold Metal Ring
Rolan L. Parscal
A cold metal ring, glistens like shattered stars, on their older bones. Promises made many years before, never intended to be kept. Blood colder, skin looser, the poor ring is all alone. Us lovers share kisses, to hugs, to pats, to phones. Such intense fire that raged, away it crept to a cold metal ring, glistening like shattered stars, on our newer bones. “Swear to be different, and not their clones.” That once true, now lies we must accept, With blood colder, skin looser, my poor ring is all alone. My eyes are wet, throat in pain from swallowing stones, Just like that joyous day on which together we wept. Her cold metal ring, glistens like shattered stars, on rotting bones. Hand in hand, together we challenged the unknown. She left with my heart now held in contempt my blood colder, skin looser, this poor ring is all alone. Next to the fire, I dream of your sweet moan Now your icy flesh below, I wish you just overslept This cold metal ring glistens like a shattered star on my sad Ol’ bones. Your blood colder, my skin looser, these poor rings will not always be alone. |
