The Adonia Game
Natasha Cmerek
Deep in the woods of a foggy mountain, a group of young boys, ventured out on a trail alone, without any adult supervision. Ivan, was the nominal leader of the group and his two younger brothers, Nicolas and Nathan, and their next-door neighbors, Gabriel, Jeremi, and Nathaniel. At their campsite they soon realized that there were no signs of animals to be seen or even heard, even the bugs were ominously quiet. They decided to ignore Mother Nature’s warning of predators in the area, and just began telling ghost stories and roasting marshmallows. All of a sudden, they started to heard the piercing cry of a girl deeper in the woods. The first few screams the boys tried to laugh off, but as the screams grew louder the boys began to fear for their safety as well as that of the girl in the woods. As they walked farther and farther from their campsite, the fog moved in, and they could barely feel the others around them.
They realized that they could not turn back because they had no idea where they were, so they continued to follow the noise in the distance. Soon the screams ended, and the boys realized that they were not alone any longer because of a soft giggle came from behind them. The boys realized that it was not going away and they were all terrified. Unable to keep the terror at bay any longer, the boys jumped and started running up the trail faster and faster as to not let the voice catch up to them. All six of the boys were scared for their lives, they had no idea what was after them or what they had gotten into by camping up on this mountain. They ran and ran but nothing changed, after running for a long while they finally saw a small glimpse of hope for their lives. Soon the fog cleared, and the boys stopped only to see a beautiful mansion in the middle of the open glade.
Nathan, the youngest of the siblings, was deeply filled with curiosity with what could be hiding inside the mysterious mansion. He convinced his brothers and their neighbors, to go inside and venture and find the mysteries that lay inside this place. As they opened the door, the smell of rot filled all their senses, but it seemed like the only safe place. So, they ventured deeper into the house, and nothing was clean or as beautiful as the outside. Each and every one of the boys were disgusted by the smell of decay, and at the same time still terrified because of a jarring voice that came from right by the door.
“Hello Boys! How nice of you to join us! We’ve been waiting for a while now.” Said a strange voice that sounded both like the little girl crying and the giggling.
“Dear sister Eliza, shouldn’t we tell them where they are before they start asking too many questions that I do not care to answer?” said another voice.
“Great idea, Adrien! You boys are here at the most amazing place, The Adonia Mansion!” said Eliza.
“The name of this place only deceives others. This place is no beauty. This place is only hideous, at least on the inside.” Said Adrien.
“And that is why we love it so! We could send hours and hours just playing our games here!” said Eliza.
At this point every single one of the boys were terrified and they all just wanted to go home. They started to wish they never left the comfort of their beds.
“What are you talking about? What kind of games do you even do in the horrible place?” said Nicholas, one of the braver boys.
Neither of the siblings spoke for a minute, but as the silence grew all of a sudden, they both started laughing like maniacs.
“You really don’t know who we are and what we do? We’re the most popular siblings in this whole town! Do you not recall our names, Eliza and Adrien?” said the siblings in unison.
They realized just who they were right after they had said this, they were the siblings that everyone was horrified of, the siblings that killed everyone around them within a sick game of hide and seek. This games of theirs were the reason no one hung out around them, the reason why everyone was scared of them, the reason why the mountain was as it was. Their game was dangerous for those who got caught in them, never for the siblings who made them. You could call this game sort of like a hunting game, where the sibling would treat those who bothered them like prey and hunt them until they were dead. Everyone thought this was just a silly old tale, but unfortunately, this was only the truth. The siblings never cared who they hurt or killed. They just wanted to have some fun with each other.
“Now the explanation is done now we shall start our beautiful game. The game begins now dear ones!” said Eliza in a yell.
“Don’t be afraid; there is a chance you will survive. Even if it’s not a high one.” Said Adrien in a lower, calmer voice.
“We’ll only give you a thirty second head start! Go run and hide dears!!” yells Eliza in an excited voice.
The game had now started, this was fun the fun part for the siblings. Watching their prey run in fear of not making it out alive to see its family once more. The siblings use the objects that they had collected such as knives, long sharp poles and sticks, large rocks, a sling shot, and broken glass. The boys were all so scared and confused on what plan of action they should take. In the end they split up into groups and ran around trying to escape but all the doors and windows were locked.
Eliza was the first to make a move, she picked up a beautiful gray rock and threw it right at the head of one of Nathaniel in the front knocking him down. Adrien walked up to the boy on the ground while he slowly tried to get up. The others around him fell to the ground crying with fear, some evening peeing their pants a little. That is when Adrien grabbed him by his neck and threw him into the wall with no mercy, crushing his skull, and leaving him to bleed out.
The next to die was Gabriel, Adrien grabbed one of the rusty, yet sharp, knives and threw it at him hitting his throat. Which lead him to falling down and coughing out blood with a slow, painful death. Each of the boys started to tremble with fear as their friend and neighbor died before them. Jeremi, was the next to be ended and he was no exception to the ruthlessness of the cruel siblings. Eliza grabbed her sling shot, from one of the many broken tables, as well as some rocks. She slung the rocks right at Jeremi’s chest, aiming for his heart, knocking him down. The boys that were still alive tried their best to hurry and save Jeremi but they were too late because Eliza had already grabbed Jeremi by his neck. Then she started slam his head to the ground over and over again, while blood began to cove the floor as well as herself, until he was eventually dead and there was no way to stop it. Nathan and Ivan died together, the siblings went up to the other set of siblings with a pole and some broken glass in hand. The two boys tried their best to survive but Eliza grabbed the broken shards of glass slitting Ivan’s wrists and watch the blood spray out of him, going everywhere.
He did not die fast enough for her so, she knocked him flat on the ground and got on top of him. Nathan did his best to run up to her and drag her off of him because he could not stand to watch his brother die right in front of him but he was not strong enough. Soon enough Adrien came over and dragged Nathan by his hair away from Eliza and Ivan. This is when Eliza started straggling Ivan with one hand and stabbing sharp glass into him with the other hand, watching with joy as the blood splattered all over her face, until he was no longer breathing. After Ivan was finally down Nathan was next, Adrien grabbed the pole and smacked him across the head knocking him into the wall, bleeding out. It was not long before Adrien turned to the boy throwing the sharp side of the pole impaling him and having blood go everywhere and having him cough up serious amounts of blood, ending his life. Nicholas watched in disbelief and tears as both of his brothers died before him as he did nothing to stop the evil and cruel siblings.
After thirty minutes of letting all the last boy try and escape after ending the life of each one of the other boys brutally until there was only Nicholas left. He begged and pleaded, and yet this would never sway the siblings from their dark games. He was just another lost soul doomed to wander the darker parts of the Adonia Mansion. Soon, it was only the two siblings in there dark and mysterious mansion on top the foggy mountain, alone.
