The disciplined will push past pain and ache, For running or training requires will. The weak sees not growth but yearns for a break, They seek comfort in rest for that’s their skill.
Pain is a part of the grueling process. No one said it would be smooth and easy. Physical and mental strength you possess, For without them you will fall completely.
You sprint for the end but end grows not near. Mistakes were made and you strike the rough ground. Failure, a word that no one likes to hear, Is experienced by all with few rebounds.
With the fall, you must crawl and get back up, For there is a saying, “never give up.”
Jeremi Pasamonte is a college sophomore attending New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI). He currently serves as troop commander (CPT) for Lima Troop and is the Garry Owen Squadron Commander (LTC) for NMMI’s Army ROTC program. He will be receiving both his associate’s degree and U.S. Army commission in May 2021. After NMMI, Jeremi will be furthering his education at Norwich University to receive his bachelor’s degree in business.
